This is the newly adopted Vision Statement for York School Department

The York School Committee and the School Climate and Culture Committee (SCCC) are pleased to adopt the Vision Statement for the York School Department (YSD). The Vision Statement will guide the entire YSD and its schools both strategically and when executing day-to-day operations. The guidelines provided by the Vision Statement will inform all aspects of YSD operations including review and adoption of curriculum, strategic planning, and student safety, and will help our schools build more welcoming and inclusive environments for all students.

The SCCC developed this Vision Statement by building upon prior work done by the community and YSD staff over the last 12 years, starting with the 2011 introduction of the Guiding Principles of the Maine Learning Results and, most recently, the recommendations put forward by the Inclusion Advisory Group.

In addition, the SCCC conducted multiple online and in-person events and is grateful for the important community and staff engagement surrounding the Vision Statement. The feedback you provided will continue to be important as the YSD transitions to the implementation of the Vision Statement. Thank you to all who participated.
