Who is Jane A. Stephenson?
Celebrating her 10th year of retirement as CRES principal, Jane A. Stephenson has once again sent her annual book donation to our library. Right about the time we are leaving school for Christmas vacation, Mrs. Stephenson contacts us and asks for suggestions of books that we would like, more importantly what the children would like.
We send her the School Library Journal’s Best of the Best edition and chooses from there. She always sends a wonderful array of choices from many genres; picture books, fiction, non fiction, poetry and from the fast growing popularity of the graphic novel (or comics). Mrs. Donnell and I eagerly await the packages. This year’s selections are no exception. 2 Graphic novels: Narwhal Unicorn of the Sea by Ben Clinton, Hippopotamister by John Patrick Green, 2 picture books: Frank and Lucky get Schooled by Lynne Rae Perkins and The Summer Nick Taught His Cats to Read by Curtis Manley, 2 Non fiction books: The Tragic Tale of the Great Auk by Jan Thornhill, Jason and the Argonauts The First Great Quest in Greek Mythology by Robert Byrd. 1 Biography: Some Writer! The Story of E.B. White by Melissa Sweet and 2 Poetry books: When Green Becomes Tomatoes Poems for all Seasons by Julie Fogliano, Echo Echo Reverso Poems about Greek Myths by Marilyn Singer.
CRES is very grateful to Mrs. Stephenson’s continued support.
Thank you Mrs. Stephenson, we love our books!
